Welcome to Screaming Stoner Video's Night of the Living Dead section. This offering is for those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see one of the best horror films ever made. It is directed by George Romero in 1968 and has established itself as a classic. There have been many sequels but few compare to the original. Also features the talents of Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea, Karl Hardman, Keith Wayne & Kyra Schon.

Below are reviews we've done on Romero's Day of the Dead and Season of the Witch (also found in the Reviews Section)

It's long overdue for a review of Day of the Dead (1985) by the excellent George A. Romero. Many people feel that "Day" is the best of Romero's "Dead Series" because of its ease to watch. We can't agree that it is the best (we'll leave that honor for the original, Night of the Living Dead) but we can say that the characters are some of the most memorable of the entire series. Our review source was the original formatted Media release, while in excellent quality, we wished it was widescreen (It has just been released this way for VHS). This cult-classic contains a great storyline with an admirable cast. Sherman Howard plays "Bub the Zombie" and does a most-excellent job at doing so. This 102 minute film, perhaps, is the only one of the series that actually makes you feel sorry for the zombies. A complete classic! (Puff!Puff!Puff!Puff!) Rated R

Day of the Dead (1985) VHS

George Romero's Season of the Witch VHS

Being the George Romero fans we are, we sprung the $15 for the new "Collector's Edition" of Season of the Witch (aka Jack's Wife and Hungry Housewives) even though it really did not contain anything more than a simple trailer at the very end of the video cassette. This is not Romero at his best! In fact, this is more of a psychedelic mind-flick then a horror offering. It basically revolves around a bored housewife who has taken a new interest in witchcraft. Some very good moments and some parts are actually comical but overall can seem very slow. This baby would be excellent alongside your favorite liquor of choice due to the fact that you almost have to be completely absorbed into the movie or you might miss something. Overall, this is a great 105 minute movie to have in your collection, but expect to be thinking more than you would like. (Puff!Puff!Puff!Puff!) Not Rated
