Tell us about The
Bonesetter, can you give us a basic outline?
-
The Bonesetter is the story of a
single mother who's child has been abducted. In her attempts to find
the child she discovers a legend about a nineteenth century bonesetter
who was supposedly lynched for killing children, with the help of a
local librarian she discovers that the Bonesetter has returned to
finish the job.
-
-
What type of reaction
do you hope to get from the audience of The Bonesetter?
-
I hope people like it obviously. The
response so far has been extremely good. Its a spooky, romantic and
funny flick. Something for everyone.
-
-
Will The Bonesetter
feature professional or volunteer actors?
-
The movie features a mix of both
professional and volunteer actors. I myself have been a
professional actor for over 10 years. Sherry Thurig who is my leading
lady appears in her first major role in the Bonesetter, The
person who plays the Bonesetter is a pro as well.
-
-
What type of budget
was this film shot on?
-
I don't like to give the dollar figure
but I will say that if favors were currency this movie would have the
budget of Titanic.
-
-
If any of our readers
might be interested in ordering this film or making a contribution to
other projects, how could they go about doing so?
-
We can be found at www.angelfire.com/on3/dudezmovies, I
have the pleasure of announcing that Tempe Video is putting the
Bonesetter out in September along with my other movie THE FERAL MAN.
-
-
What type of creative
endeavors are you undertaking at the moment?
-
I'm currently at work on my next
feature FINAL CURTAIN which promises to be creepy, I'm
describing it as Agatha Christie meets Friday the 13th.
-
-
What's the best film
you've seen in the last two months and why?
-
I loved BIG FISH, it really plays with
the heartstrings.
-
-
Can you give us some
insight into your other influences? What are your favorite films or
directors?
-
My favourite movie is Evil Dead 2. It
shows what you can do with some ingenuity and very few actors. I thin
Double Indemnity is probably the world's most perfect film though.
-
-
What rewards do you
find in making independent films?
-
I love telling a story from beginning
to end and seeing the reaction. Its satisfying to start a project and
finish it.
-
-
What types of
obstacles do you encounter in making independent films?
-
Gosh, casting, WEATHER!!, money.
Making indie movies is a headache so you'd better love it if you want
to try it. I personally love it!
-
-
What advice do you
have for other independent filmmakers?
-
Tell a story! Forget about boobs and
blood. If you want to make a good movie it starts with the story.
